The Marble Chair Company Armchairs

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012

I picked up a pair of these Marble Chair Company armchairs a couple of weeks ago at a garage sale. They are in great shape: nice lines, in good condition, but the seats and wood were a bit dingy. These chairs show a wonderful patina on the arms. Clearly they were
family favorites.

I cleaned them up, conditioned the leather, refreshed and waxed the wood and cleaned up the brass peg legs. Unfortunately, cleaning revealed a few more slits in one seat than I had initially seen. A friend’s mom used to say that dust and dirt held her curtains together. Seems that rule also applies to vintage office chairs. Kinda gross, but it may be true.

I’m very happy with these armchairs. The orange leather and walnut are so warm, yet so modern. They would make a lovely addition to a foyer, entryway or an office, of course. you can see them down at the White Elephant Booth 1969 this weekend.
